GABI WILLIAMS ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE FOUNDATION

About GWAF

In 2015, the World Alzheimer's Report highlighted the growing challenges of dementia in Sub Saharan Africa countries like Nigeria. These included desperately low awareness about dementia despite the increased risk of the disease within an ageing population and the paucity of specific health policies designed to mitigate the problem. GWAF was founded to help fill the gap in Alzheimer’s disease services and advocacy in Nigeria, and support caregivers and patients suffering from the disease. It was established in honor of the life and work of Dr. Gabi Williams, a physician and public health pioneer afflicted by the disease.
